From side job to internship

A side job alongside your studies; many students work in the hospitality industry or supermarket, but there are certainly other possibilities as well. Perhaps you are looking for something that is in line with your studies or you are ready for something different. The great thing about this is that you can move on from your side job to an internship that suits you. This is how we do it at Huijbregts Groep!

Most students know the drill, it's time to look for an internship, but where do you start? On the one hand, students are given different requirements that the internship company must meet: A year, half a year or 3 months, the subject of the internship assignment and whether it will be a work experience internship or a graduate internship that requires extensive research. On the other hand, companies sometimes find it difficult to meet these exact requirements. This all makes it more difficult for students to find internships. How nice then to have a side job at a company where you could also find a suitable internship! That makes the search a little easier.

Side job at Huijbregts Groep
At Huijbregts Groep there are several opportunities for a side job. Curerntly, we have 15 students working in production, logistics, technical support and on request in other departments such as the Communications department. The details of this side job are discussed with the student. Some students work the evening shift and come after school to work some extra hours, others do not have classes every day and come to work on their free day(s) and then there are the students who like to earn some extra money during the summer.

Internship at Huijbregts Group
We are very happy with our working students and when they are looking for an internship for school, we like to offer them this opportunity. This can be within the same department where they do their side job, but we also look at the possibilities to do an internship in another department when it better suits the study. No side job at Huijbregts Groep, but interested in an internship at our company? Of course this is possible! Interns are welcome. Huijbregts Groep does not work with profiles, we prefer to get to know you first and then see where you will fit in best. So please send us an open application!

Work experience of intern and work student Jeroen van der Klip
Jeroen heard about a side job at Huijbregts Groep through others who knew the company. So he started in the evening shift of the production and soon he was asked by colleagues to come and work in the Technical Department, which fitted even better with his Mechatronics studies. Despite the fact that there are plenty of vacancies in the Mechatronics industry, Jeroen decided to do his graduation internship at Huijbregts Groep. "There is a lot of freedom and everything is present for a good internship". In addition, his colleagues advised him to choose Huijbregts Groep. They themselves also had a positive experience here.
For his test of competence, Jeroen has to do a project in which different pillars such as mechanics, electrical engineering and software have to be integrated. Thus, he is also doing a lot of programming and that is exactly what he likes doing most besides 3D drawing. In addition to his internship assignment, Jeroen still works in the evening shift of the Technical Department where he is mainly concerned with preventive maintenance . "Doing an internship, working and going to school at the same time is hard enough, so it is nice to have my side job and internship in the same place, it saves a lot of time." What will he do next? As of September 1st, Jeroen will join Huijbregts Groep full-time and we are very happy with that!
